The Pixiebob
Yet, another wildcat/domestic cat hybrid is the Pixiebob, which is a cross between a domestic cat and the Coastal Red Bobcat. They have wild faces, heavy bone structure, rangy bodies, large feet, incl. polydactyl, and loose fitting skin. They have short medium length coats that really stand out, and Bobcat tail length is desired. Their fur is in longhair and shorthair. The longhair is much softer. Occasionally there can be longer or shorter lengths produced. The Pixiebob is accepted by TICA, in one color category only, Brown Spotted Tabby, by TICA. There are color variations of Brown Tabby such as Fawn, Tan, Russet and brown to black markings, with white tickling. Patterns may vary, but spotted is always prefered, broken bars and rossettes. Size: Medium- large, Females weigh approximates 12 pounds, while male can weigh between 12-20 pounds. The Pixiebob is the most "dog-like" of the hybrids. They are very busy, and not destructive, which makes them great indoor pets. They are extremely intelligent, friendly, and easily trained. Pixie-Bob are also quite inquisitive. They are very quiet, but will express themselves with a chirp or a chitter when happy. The females will form and unusually strong bond with their family. Pixiebob's are excellent companions for children and people of all ages. They have domestic litter habits and socialize well with other animals. The Pixiebob is a cat of loyalty and courage. It is more like a dog, than a cat in behavior. It is even said to guard its owner's house from intruders, yet perfectly reliable with the family.
